About

shqiptaret.org is a website of checked information for Albanians living outside Albania and Kosovo, in Albanian and English.

What you will find

• Practical guides (passports, documents, arriving in a new country); every fact links to its source, official wherever possible.
• A page for each of 50 countries where Albania and/or Kosovo has a mission, plus Albania and Kosovo themselves.
• Emergency numbers, embassies and entry rules for each country, with the source and the date we checked it.
• Travel in Albania and Kosovo, city by city, with facts from official sources.

How we work

• No fact without a source. Every page shows when it was checked.
• Free to use. No account and no charge.
• No analytics and no tracking ads.
• Our own email address and phone number are not shown publicly. Contact goes through the contact form. Embassy and mission contacts on country pages are the foreign missions' own published details.
• No politics and no party symbols.

Who we are

We are a small group of web designers, coders and programmers who build shqiptarët together, working with AI tools.

What goes into this project

• Research: every fact links to its source, official wherever possible (Kosovo Agency of Statistics 2024 census, municipalities, foreign ministries and embassy websites), with the date we checked it. Where we could not confirm a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.
• Writing and translation: every page is written in Albanian and English with the same structure, in a calm, factual tone.
• Fact-checking: AI helps us research, draft and translate, and every fact is checked against its original source before it goes on the site. Where we could not confirm something, we leave it off the public page rather than guess.
• Design and code: a fast, simple site that works on any phone, built and hosted on modern cloud services.
• Data: municipalities, places, religious and cultural sites, emergency numbers, embassies of Albania and Kosovo in 50 countries, and the host-country missions in Kosovo and Albania that we have confirmed against an official source.

We're just getting started

This is the beginning, and we're looking for people who'd like to help:

• Albanian and English translators and proofreaders
• Local contributors in each of Kosovo's 38 municipalities and across Albania
• Members of the diaspora in every country who can keep the local information up to date
• Photographers willing to share photos they took themselves, with credit
• Fact-checkers and researchers
• Web designers, developers and people who know data
• People with practical knowledge of consular, legal and community services

If you'd like to help, please get in touch through the contact form.
